On the cloud nine always meant being in a blissful state. There need to be a special condition to be prevailing so that this idiomatic phrase can be used. But not anymore,being on the cloud is what you and me and most of the netizens are now. Yes,this cloud refers to the Internet.

People who author books on computers and networking follow this practice of depicting a network of computers in a shape resembling clouds. So this term is metaphorically used when people use multiple computers on the Internet for their needs. In this case people use different computer at unknown geographical locations to store their data and to fulfill their processing needs and to make use of various applications.

You are always part of any cloud when you are connected to the Internet. For instance,all of us have web mail accounts and our e-mails are stored in remote servers of dot com companies. We can store documents and other files on the web using Google Docs. There are numerous file storage services like Amazon, Box.net that offer enormous amounts of space to store large files. With all these online services,you can comfortably forget about your Hard disk’s capacity.

Next comes the applications which take up large amount of processing power. Online application providers like Google Docs, Microsoft Office Online, Zoho make it easy to create and edit important documents anywhere on any computer with an Internet connection. And there are tools for photo editing like Piknik and a number of games,utilities ready to be used online.

So be net savvy and leave your traditional computer worries like ‘malware infected my system,i lost all my data in the disk’,’i need my pc,the file is saved in there’. Be on the move and always be with your data, be on the cloud.
